Getting Married Soon? Five Key Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Say “I Do”

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Rod Louden After what was hopefully at least a 2-year courtship, you now find yourself engaged. Youre excited and nervous as the big day approaches. You think youve got all the important questions asked and answered. Are the guests seated properly? Did we give the florist a deposit? Are all the relatives travel and lodging arrangements finalized? Has everything been done that needs to be done? While these are all important questions, many people fail to take the time to ask themselves key questions about how their life will change after they say I do. Here are five key questions to ask yourself before you say those two life-altering words. 1) How do I expect my life to change once Im married? (Think it wont? Yikes!). Everyone enters into a marriage with expectations about how the marriage will satisfy his or her needs. Problems arise when these expectations go unmet and feelings of disappointment start to seep into the emotional connection between the couple. At lot of times, this is due to one partner expecting the emotional connection to intensify and the other expecting things to stay as they have been. Therefore, it is very important that you openly talk with your partner about what you expect from the relationship, emotionally, financially, physically, and how you view your future together playing out. Failure to do so may lead the two of you down a bitter path culminating in divorce. 2) How happy am I with our travels through the four seasons? (And, Im not talking about a casual stroll through the lobby of a ritzy hotel!). Well functioning relationships are able to survive difficult times and grow as the environment around them changes. Just as one needs to prepare for a harsh winter, a couple needs to devise a blueprint for how they are going to get through tough times. All couples experience situations that test their commitment to each other and their compatibility. This is why I wrote at least a 2-year courtship in the opening paragraph. When you first are dating, its like summerpeaceful, calm, exciting, and warm. Then winter comes and things often get harder. No longer is one focusing on being on his or her best behavior and ones baggage surfaces. If you havent experienced all four seasons of your partner to be, maybe you should push back the wedding date. If you have, what did you learn about yourself and your partner? Is your relationship going to be like living in Los Angeles where the change of seasons are hardly noticeable, or is it going to be like living in the Colorado Rockies? If the two of you are having wild emotional swings getting married isnt the answer. 3) Why am I getting married? (Because thats what Im supposed to do?!) Most of us know the fairy tale where the prince rescues the damsel in distress and they ride off into the sunset to a place called Happily Ever After. Many of us think, in some way, that there is truth to this insipid tale. It has been my experience that rescue missions usually end up with the rescuer getting his or her butt kicked as the damsel is in distress, due to her own choices, which cant be fixed by the rescuer. In our modern world, both men and women attempt to rescue, just as both men and women can be a damsel in distress. Happily Ever After has a little known subtitle, Just as long as you work your butt off and are not trying to save anybody or hope to be rescued from yourself. Thus, make sure to answer this question as honestly as possible. And, ask your partner this question as well. If getting married has anything to do with living out a fairy tale, you may want to reevaluate the situation. 4) Have you fallen in love? (If the answer is Yes, have you gotten up?) When asked why one is getting married, a common answer is because Ive fallen in love. To me, the word falling is associated with painful things. I fell down, I fell off the chair, or I fell off a cliff, to name a few. Whoever first coined the phrase falling in love knew what s/he were talking about. This wise person knew that with love comes pain. Within every successful relationship there exists a healthy level of emotional pain that a couple uses to further grow their relationship. Part of making a relationship stand the test of time is to agree to work together to solve problems. Learning how to avoid hurting each other will lessen the chances that someone will tumble and fall, causing both to suffer. Dont fall in love. Rather, build it together. 5) Who do I want to model my marriage after? (If its the paid assassins Mr. and Mrs. Smith, things might get rough for a while). Are your parents still married (were they ever)? The relationship that our parents had affects us more than most of us want to admit. It is from their teachings and behaviors that we learned about how, or how not, partners are supposed to treat each other. If they were, and still are, great role models, ask them to tell you everything that they have learned about marriage. If they werent, still ask, but also seek out advice from someone whose marriage appears to be running smoothly (I say appear, as people are great on putting a positive face on what is really a relationship in trouble). In addition, I highly recommend premarital counseling. Working with a therapist prior to getting married may prevent you from having to go to therapy to try and save the relationship in the future. Thus, having a well thought out and constructed blueprint for marriage is essential for the success of the relationship. Make sure to ask yourself and your partner as many questions as possible regarding expectations for the marriage. And remember, there is no substitute for hard work. So, get crackin! Prepaid SIM Card for UK

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney]John Dulaney Whether you are traveling to UK on business or pleasure, do not forget to take your mobile with you along-with a prepaid SIM card for UK. You will not require signing of any contract with your service provider to buy or rent such a card. It is the most convenient and economical solution to keep in touch with your people while you are in UK. With your SIM card for UK, you not only get a local number but also pay local rates, which even include unlimited free incoming calls from anywhere in the world. For your next trip to UK, make sure that you buy a SIM card for UK and carry your unlocked GSM phone with you. Check if your phone is a quad band GSM handset, for if it is not, that phone will not work in UK. It is the most economical way to be in touch with your family, friends and business associates. Traditionally you would roam with your current phone in UK, which would be a very expensive proposition. Just by buying a SIM for UK, you can avoid all those roaming charges. Consider those days when you had to make calls from your hotel room and the charges you paid for those calls. When you compare that with that of a pre-paid SIM card for UK, you will be surprised with the kind of savings that you have. Like most of the countries in the world, UK has opted for Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) technology for their mobile operation. GSM systems are used in nearly 200 countries having over 600 million subscribers worldwide. GSM is a part of the world wireless evolution, embracing all areas of technology, providing digital clear communication in global seamless wireless services. It hardly matters where you are in UK. You are always connected with the prepaid SIM card, which will allow calling for dinner reservations, calling your friends, and finding out the railway timings or the hours to a museum. The card provides you with low UK call rates for the calls you make and even saves you the roaming charges, if you should decide to call international. The card allows free incoming calls from any part of the world. A prepaid SIM card is the one which goes into your handset. It requires an upfront payment for the credit that you would want for making your calls and sending text messages or availing other value-added services. Since it is prepaid you will never receive a bill at the end of the month. The SIM card that you buy will carry a talk time value, and you would need to re-charge that as and when you are about to finish the free talk time allocated to you. You can either buy enough credit for your calls from your provider before you leave for UK, or you may buy the re-charge vouchers, to be used as and when you require your credit to be topped up when you are already in UK. You may also choose to buy such vouchers from UK or use the facility to buy the recharge on phone. A prepaid SIM card for UK (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland), with your quad band GSM phone, is the most convenient and economical proposition to have when you visit that country. All incoming calls that you receive are free, regardless where they originate from. Unlike home, your SIM card for UK is prepaid, so you do not get a bill at the end of the month, nor you sign any contract with your service provider. The next step is to activate the SIM card in your mobile phone. A general procedure is given below, which is just for guidance and your service provider should be able to let you have detailed instruction on these: Make sure you have the re-charge vouchers, providing you enough credit to last your stay in England. These you can buy in the UK at any tobacco shop. Make sure that you have with you a tri or quad band GSM phone. At any time, before or after you reach Britain, insert your pre-paid SIM card for the UK into your GSM mobile handset. Place a call to activate your service. You are now connected. If you are traveling to UK and you have your current mobile handset with you, be warned that you cannot use your handset in UK, unless your phone is a GSM tri-band handset. It should be in unlocked state and compatible with the network bandwidth in UK. An alternative is to rent a GSM handset from planetomni.com, which is by far the best economical solution for you, for, you can avail the same service as the Brit does. Cell phone use overseas. In 99% of the world the local cellular service standard is called GSM. We use this in the states as well. When combined with a SIM CARD (which usually goes under the battery of the phone) the phone is able to communicate and the SIM CARD also holds the telephone number and memory for pre-paid credit. Rates can be extremely low using this system. For example in 99% of all SIM CARDS incoming calls are free and calls to the states can cost a trifle. Such as, from the UK to the USA 7 cents/minute, from Israel 22 cents, from Australia 27 cents. Yes, USA Dollar cents! There are today even prepaid service providers in the USA offering rates of 10 cents per minute to call anywhere in the US to any type of phone. No contracts, no credit card checks, no bills. Pre-paid always means no minimums no contracts, no obligations. You only pay for the calls made. You’ll need an unlocked GSM tri-band or quadband UNLOCKED phone. You can buy factory unlocked phones and sim cards for more than 170 or the 193 countries on earth from http://www.planetomni.com Tel. # 800-514-2984 Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney http://EzineArticles.com/?Prepaid-SIM-Card-for-UK&id=290078 phentermine 37.5 no prescription required purchase phentermine phentermine online us phentermine from kenwood pharmacy

Choosing Your Wedding Color

Monday, January 28th, 2008

By Blu Atwood One great way to make your wedding day unique is by the color scheme you choose. Whether you use a popular mix such as shades of purples or pink and green, or you go with a scheme of your own; you can use your colors to enhance your day. Here are a few wedding planning suggestions to help you get started on choosing a color scheme. 1. Pick a Palette. Flip through home decor and fashion magazines for color combinations that catch your eye. To help you choose the exact hue for your wedding details, carry around paint chips in your wedding colors to make sure everything you choose works in your palette. 2. Get Inspired by Nature. Can’t decide on just one or two colors for your wedding? Don’t worry. In fact, many extraordinary weddings weave a variety of colors, sometimes up to five, that work together as a whole to create a specific sensibility. For example, you might pick bright green, summery yellow, pale pink, rich red, and caramel brown for an English garden look; or leap into autumn in New England with pale green, ruby red, burgundy, and gold. 3. Color Coordinate. When it comes to working with your invitation designer and cake baker, pay as much detail to color as you do to design. If you have access to a Pantone book, use this collection of colors to select your shade the same way graphic designers do. Many invitation designers mix ink to match the colors in this book, and many cake bakers use Pantone numbers as a reference when creating dye for the frosting. Once you have chosen a color plan for your wedding, let that be the inspiration as you continue planning. Find unique ways to tie in those colors throughout your day. Wedding Movie Madness

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

By Samantha Taylor I love nothing more than to spend an afternoon or evening watching my favorite wedding movies. It may not be my fiances favorite pastime, but he is generally a good sport about it. He may not admit it, but he can recite certain scenes from My Best Friend’s Wedding off the top of his head. Quite a few excellent wedding movies have been released in the last couple years, and these are some of my favorites. Meet the Parents has become one of my all-time faves. It was released back in 2000, and stars the ever-so-funny Ben Stiller. The premise is typical of many wedding movies; a nervous young man is introduced to his future in-laws. What makes this movie so excitingly funny is the role of prospective Father-in-Law, played by Robert DeNiro. The dynamic that plays out between Stiller and DeNiro is unforgettable. Oh, the hilarity of it all! Meet the Fockers is a sequel to the above mentioned, and was released in 2004. This time around we have the pleasure of meeting the parents of Ben Stiller’s character, Greg Focker. His parents are played by Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand, both of whom deliver unforgettable roles. They stand in stark contrast to the bride’s parents from the previous film. While the bride’s parents are somewhat conservative and stuffy, the parents of the groom are new-age leftists. These two films have become my all-time favorite wedding movies. Sooo funny! The Corpse Bride is another highly entertaining movie with a wedding theme. This animated masterpiece was released to critical acclaim in 2005. It is quirky in the way that all Tim Burton films are, and it has some of my favorite stars doing voice-over work. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter play the lead roles. The premise goes something like this; a young man is having difficulty with his lines during his wedding rehearsal. He strays off into the forest to practice alone. He nails his lines perfectly, and places the ring on a fallen tree branchor so he thinks. It turns out that the fallen tree branch was actually the decrepit finger of the Corpse Bride, who has risen from the dead and claims to be his legal bride. Even your boyfriend will love it! Samantha Taylor is dreading her fiances bachelor party. When she is not trying to convince him to watch yet another wedding-themed movie, she writes for yourwedding101.com an informative and insightful wedding planning guide with information about wedding speeches, ethnic wedding traditions, honeymoon destinations and more. Effective Business Card Design For Attorneys

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

By Caitlina Fuller If you are an attorney in the big city, the key to being successful is being memorable and distinct. Business cards are the best tools that can help you achieve this. They could speak volumes about you without the need for you to even speak. With this in mind, you should be able to choose an effective business card design that would work with who you are and what you do. Since you would be representing clients in all their legal transactions, having a professional business card will help you establish credibility. An effective business card should not also look great but they also should contain all your contact details in case your clients would need to reach you. The information should be presented in a clear and concise manner in order to avoid confusion. Today, there are many available business card templates you can choose from. The important thing is to incorporate your personality in your card. As a lawyer, your business card should be straightforward and classy. For starters, choose a color that is not too loud like orange, fuschia or red. They would make you look unprofessional and not at all serious. To help you out further, here are some tips on how to choose an effective business card design. Style: your business card should be styled in a simple manner so that the focus is on the information. If a business car is too stylish, the client might think that you are too concerned with appearances to really deliver quality work. On the other hand, a business card that is too plain might not look very business-like. A healthy balance of simplicity and style is always recommended. Font: you should choose a font that is readable and large enough to be read comfortably. Try not to choose a font that is too elaborate, making the card look like a wedding invitation. Material: an effective business card should also be durable. Choose a material that will last long. It can save you a considerable amount of money in the long run. Business cards can be ordered from professional card makers. They can even provide you with many samples you can look at to help you choose an effective business card design. It takes only a couple of hours to make hundreds of business cards, but you should check carefully if the information is accurate. Caitlina Fuller is a freelance writer. Dating Bliss For Singles And Those In A Relationship 1

Monday, January 21st, 2008

By Sebastian Foss Anyone you yield to out of fear, you will live with such a person in fear. To yield to a marriage proposal due to fear is to enroll for a life of perpetual misery and torment. Fear is NOT of God and where perfect love is fear flees, for the presence of fear means the absence of love. Marriage is not a ministry, an orphanage, or a therapy centre. Hence, you need to overcome the emotional temptation of yielding to someones proposal out of sympathy. You should only yield to a marriage proposal because you KNOW it is Gods will and not because of any other reason. Fear is a negative emotion and should not be allowed, you should never allow yourself to be intimidated or manipulated into a relationship contrary to Gods will and your desire. A GUY SHOULD NOT BE HELD TO RANSOM BY THE COMMON PHRASE IM STILL PRAYING When a guy proposes to a lady and she has neither a foreknowledge nor conviction to accept the proposal, it is her responsibility to go to God in prayer for confirmation. If the ladys stand and communion with God is alright, that prayer neednt take too long to be answered. However, many ladies have used the phrase Im still praying to hold their suitors to ransom, when the real truth is that they are still double-minded and afraid to make commitment due to carnal insecurity. When some ladies tell you they are still prating or they are still waiting to see if your status/class will change; because they dont like what they see yet neither are they willing to make sacrifices to help change it. A brother waited for three years to get an answer to his proposal from a lady who claimed to still be praying only to be disappointed. That is not wisdom on his part because any lady that needs three years to hear from her father definitely has a problem in her relationship with God and is not ready for marriage. Let you yea be yea and your nay be nay because some ladies have missed their miracle through the use of this formula. NEVER BOX GOD A mans mentality and mindset is so powerful that it can place a limit on the effect of God and His word in his life. As a single Christian, you must acknowledge that you dont own your life but God does, so you should not dictate to God about when, how and where He should choose to do His will. - THE PERSON I WILL MARRY MUST BE RICH - I MUST MARRY THIS YEAR. - THE LADY MUST BE THE ONE TO LURE ME - I MUST MARRY WITHIN MY LOCAL GOVT OR BOROUGHETC. These are merely some examples of the many funny ideas some singles have which could bring hindrances to Gods work in their lives. You cannot tell God what to do and wisdom demands that you trust Gods decision making ability; because what he prepare for you will always be more than you can ever have on your own and the future will be secure. About the History of the Christian Fish Symbol

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

By Akili Kumasi In recent years the Christian Fish Symbol can be seen affixed to the back of cars or as key chains and in other very visible locations as Christians use it to demonstrate to the world that they are believers in the only one true God. The Origin of the Christian Fish Symbol The origin of the popular Christian Fish Symbol is believed to have been in the early years of the church after Jesus ascension into heaven. Because the church was growing rapidly it was the target of persecution by both the Romans and the Jews. One usage of the symbol was as a sort of secret code. When a Christian met someone they thought was a fellow believer they would scratch the top arch of the symbol in the ground. If the other person was also a believer in Christ he would complete the fish symbol by drawing the lower inverted arch. Another reported use for the Christian Fish Symbol in the early church was as a pointer to secret meetings which would be scratched on the ground or on a rock. Sixteenth Century Christians In later times (around the 16th Century) Christians used the symbol in a more open and declarative fashion. The Greek word ΙΧΘΥΣ was added to the body of the fish. ΙΧΘΥΣ or Ichthusis is the Greek word used most often in the Bible for the word fish. Christians used the Greek letters from the word ΙΧΘΥΣ (Iota Chi Theta Upsilon Sigma) as an acronym to represent Isesous Christos Theou Uios Soter or Jesus Christ Gods Son, Savior. Why Christians Use the Symbol of a Fish? Christians may have used the fish as a symbol for their faith because of how Jesus used fish in His ministry. Some of those references include the following. Jesus told Peter and Andrew that He would make them fishers of men (Mark 1:17). Jesus fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread and two fish (Matthew 14:17). After Jesus resurrection He appeared to His disciples and directed them to a miraculous catch of fish and He cooked a breakfast of fish for them (John 21:6-9). Christians Today Christians today represent the Christian Fish Symbol in various ways including : the Greek letters ΙΧΘΥΣ, with a cross, with JESUS in the body of the fish or just plan without any letters. The God is Love Ministry Logo Our ministry has taken the Christian Fish Symbol as our logo and added the word love because of our ministry name, God is Love. Also, we want to draw attention to love because God is Love (I John 4:8, 16) and we believe that what the world needs now is love, the kind of love that God commanded us to give to one another. We believe in the Power of Gods Love as explained in the three examples below: 1. Gods Love at Calvary God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son (John 3:16). It is because of Gods love and what He did for us at Calvary that our sins are forgiven and we will have eternal life in Heaven. 2. Gods Love in the Resurrection In Ephesians 1:18-20 Paul prayed that we would know his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms What God did He did out of love and because of it we can overcome the world, thats the Power of Gods love at work. Read below to see how God wants us to translate His love into everyday living. 3. Gods Love as Guidelines for Living God commanded us to love one another. He said: o Love God (Mark 12:29-31; Deuteronomy 6:4-5) o Love your brother (1 John 4:19-21) o Love your enemy (Matthew 5:44) o Love your neighbor (James 2:8; Galatians 5:14; Luke 10:27) God gave us guidelines for loving when He defined love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a. This is what makes us conclude that To Love is to Give because you cannot live according to this scripture without giving of yourself. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. We believe that when we follow Gods command to love in the way that He said to love then we have indeed made the world a better place to live. As Christians we need to encourage one another to love as Christ loved by giving of Himself. Therefore, The God is Love Ministries logo of the Christian Fish Symbol is also a call to Christians to love as Christ said to love and for us to use the power of His love to overcome the world as He did (John 16:33). The Power of Gods Love is without limit. Paul further prayed that we may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledgethat you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God … (Ephesians 3:18-19 NIV). To be filled with the fullness of God can you imagine that?
