Here’s What Happens When You Leave The “Seduction” Out Of Your Selling

June 22nd, 2008 by dorocommazzi

By Craig Garber Last week, I revealed an embarrasing letter I used to sendout when I first got into copywriting, and how I tried topick up clients with it. You can see thathere: http://www.kingofcopy.com/tips/do_not_make_this_same_mistake_081905.html Anyway, here are the 5 things I did wrong in that letter(there are actually a slew of things I did wrong, these arejust the 5 most “apparent” things: 1. Saying “Let’s be honest here: That ad isn’t working very wellfor you, is it.” While most people are going to be totally appreciative ofyour honesty, bluntly slamming someone, and doing itliterally in the second sentence of a letter you’re sendingthem… Is as stupid as walking into a bar, going up to anattractive woman you’ve never met before, and handing herthe keys to your hotel room! Meaning… There Was No Foreplay Involved! Listen, sales is like seduction. And the better you are atromancing your prospects and making them feel relaxed andgiving them a good experience, the more likely you’re goingto make a sale. No romance… equals no sale. Period. 2. “If it didn’t work the first time, why should it workthe 17th time?” At this point, I’ve given the prospect absolutely no reasonat all why he should believe this. He is NOT aware of direct-response principles… I’ve showedhim no examples… and I’ve given him no “reason why” salescopy that would lead him to believe the statement I made istrue. You’ve got to offer compelling “reasons why” for everysingle statement you make. Otherwise your prospect will NOTbelieve you. And no belief… equals no trust… and that also… equalsno sale! 3. “And if you will give me a shot at fixing your ad, I’llswear on all that is holy, it will pull MUCH better.” I have NOT defined what “fixing” means… and there is noclear-cut offer here at all. How much will I charge? What’s in this for me and what do I really want? In other words, I’m not answering his unspoken objections orconcerns. And if you don’t answer your prospect’s concerns… Again… No Sale! 4. No Guarantee. At this point in time, not only have I NOT made any kind ofcompelling offer, but the prospect has no guaranteesagainst any downside risk on his end. He doesn’t knowwhat’s going to protect any time or money he may invest inthis process. 5. No testimonials. Testimonials give people more comfort to take action, andI’ve included none in this letter. Overall, I just haven’t answered he primary question everyone of your prospects has: Why Should I Work With You? Answer this question above all others in ANY kind of salescopy you’re writing. It’ll go far towards making yoursale. Tomorrow I’ll tell you the one HUGE reason why even if I haddone ALL these things, it’s very unlikely I would havereceived ANY kind of response at all. Now go sell something. If you want to know how to consistently attract a steady stream of fresh new prospects, who are pre-qualified, eager, and excited about buying from you, then Craig Garber — recognized by his peers as America’s Top Direct-Response Copywriter — can show you exactly how to do this, step-by-step. Helpful UK Job Hunting Tips

June 19th, 2008 by dorocommazzi

By Jay Stanley Given the fact that there are multiple applicants for any opening and H.R professionals spend less than a few seconds in scanning a resume before either accepting it or consigning it to the waste bin, the importance of a good resume cannot be overstated. A well written resume is the proverbial foot in the door that can lead to greater opportunities, and in the case of a job seeker, that translates to an interview, and if all goes well, the job. A resume is a dynamic entity that changes with the professional growth and learning of an individual. It is meant to be a brief yet informative statement of purpose and capabilities of a professional. Professionals should regularly spend some time in taking stock of their professional achievements and new skills acquired. This helps them to obtain an awareness of their position in the job market and update their resume so that if a good job opportunity comes their way, they are ready to make the most of it. Since a person with the most current knowledge and related experience is always in demand, an updated resume that is in sync with the skill-set of the professional will stand out among the other resumes. An updated resume also serves to remind professionals of their own accomplishments such that they can elaborate on them just by taking a glance at the resume. This is of immense help while facing an interview board. Sometimes, job hunting can yield great results if professionals try to extend themselves to streams of work that they have not previously considered as career options. Upon making a rational assessment of the qualifications that they have earned and the skills they have acquired, many professionals find that they can in fact apply for more than just the obvious jobs. A switch in job responsibilities within an industry or a move to another industry is often achievable with excellent consequences for the professional both in terms of remuneration and work satisfaction. It is always advisable to post a resume on as many online job sites as possible. This exposes the resume to a very wide audience including both employers and recruiters. Professionals do not necessarily have to post the same resume on all the sites; they can customize their resumes to meet the requirements of the job openings posted on different sites. Companies are often partial to particular job sites and visit them more regularly in search of prospective job candidates. It may also be a good idea to avail the services of resume distribution companies that can distribute an individuals resume to several job sites as well as prospective employers. The key to getting a good job is to have the right credentials and letting people know that you have the right credentials; this entails staying networked and if it implies taking help from friends and family for submitting ones resume for an opening, professionals should not shy away from it. Often, resumes floated around by acquaintances can lead to an interview call. Job seekers should not ignore this effective medium of distributing their resumes and gaining information on exciting job opportunities. What is Commitment?

June 15th, 2008 by dorocommazzi

By Anthony Smith There are many types of Commitment. Commitment to, family, spouse, children, job, country, self, ideology and God. The state of being bound emotionally or intellectually to a course of action or to another person or persons. A Pledge. To pledge or obligate one’s own self; commit, consign, entrust, confide, relegate. When I married my wife I committed myself to her welfare, both physically and emotionally. She put her trust in me to provide for not only her but for our children, forsaking all to the betterment of one relationship under God. I made a commitment to my employer to do the best as I was able to provide him with quality work for the pay that I received, never defrauding him in any way. I made a commitment to my Country, to serve and protect such rights as were provided by the constitution, as I served in the Military, being sent where and when I was ordered. I made a commitment to myself to do those things that were lawful and needful to my welfare, to obtain the American dream of self suffiency and wellbeing. I made a commitment to my Ideology, being understood that God came first then everything else afterwards. Believing in one God, one Saviour, one Bible and one way of Salvation by the Direction of one Holy Ghost. I did my best to uphold each commitment as I was able, being limited in the body but with my spirit willing. Even after being devastated by three heart attacks, my commitment to my wife, family, children, ideology, self and God has not dwindled nor been removed by my sercomstances. Once a commitment has been made it cannot be counted as void because of changing situations. But as we all have made commitments in our lives, not one of us ever had to shed blood for our commitment to God. We all, as believers, have made a commitment to God. To uphold, His, Statutes, Laws, Commandments, Ideals, to hold to our Faith in Him no mater what came against us, but we still have not shed blood for the cause of our commitment. We have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.[Heb 12:4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.] Lets talk a little about the comittment of Jesus to His Father and to us. Matthew 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Jesus made severial comittments, 1. To re-obtain Dominion over the earth. [Mat 4:8-10; Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.] For we all know that Adam was given dominion over the earth by God and then lost it to Satan when He fell. Matthew 4:8-10, proves that Satan Had dominion over all because Jesus never rebuked him for his offer to give the kingdoms of the earth to Him. 2. Preach The everlasting Gospel to the House of Israel.[Mat 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Mar 7:26-27 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. [The comittment of Jesus was to offer salvation to the Jews first, doing so fulfilling prophecy. [Isa_53:5, Isa_53:6, Isa_53:11, Isa_53:12; Mat_8:17; Gal_3:13; Heb_9:28; 1Pe_2:24, 1Pe_3:18; 1Jo_2:2] Isa 9:6-7; For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. 3. To set in place a plan of Salvation for all mankind. John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. 4. To give His life to secure mankinds salvation for all that would believe on Him. Joh 10:14-18; I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep(Recognition of the Saved), and am known of mine(Recoginition of the Savour). As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep(Israel). And other sheep I have(The Gentile Race), which are not of this fold:(The Jewish Race of People) them also I must bring(Save), and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold,(No more Jew nor Greek) and one shepherd. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.(His fulfilment of His Comittment to God and Man.) No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. 5. To live a sinless life for an example for us. Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot(Sin) to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. 1Pe 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: (Sinless) 6. Comitted to fulfill the will of the Father. Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.Mat 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Mat 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Joh 8:49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me. Joh 8:54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 7. Comitted to Destroy the works of Satan. Luk 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Act 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. 8. Comitted to Return to reastablish Gods dominion upon the earth for eternity. Eph 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Rev 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. Rev 2:27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. Jesus has fulfilled His commitments except 1, The return to finally destroy Satan and establish His eternal kingdom upon the earth. To those that don’t believe, look at history and see all the commitments that were fulfilled by Christ and ponder the thought, that if all these things are true, then the last will also come to pass. Do you think that God will leave the last undone? I think not. This world is falling apart at the seams, conflict, confusion, war and rumors of war. The worlds monetary system is going bankrupt, soon money will be useless and the things that you thought were important, no one will even want to steel. What will be your commitment when Christ returns? Will it be to Him or will you commit to Satan and a final battle at Armogedon? Temple of Spirit & Truth MinistriesA.R. Have the Perfect Prom Updo Hairstyle

June 7th, 2008 by dorocommazzi

By Janice Johnson Finding the perfect hairstyle is not as difficult as it may seem to some. You just need to consider what it is you want and what suits you best. Before you embark on a new prom hairstyle, you should consider these things: Your Hair Texture and Hair Length You must consider the texture and thickness of your hair. If you have long hair its much easier to put in an updo hairstyle than short coarse hair. Although short coarse hair can be made into an updo style with tight twists that cascade upwards on the head then with the addition of some extensions or a hair piece for added length, can make for the perfect updo hairstye. Now that extensions are so popular, anything goes. Consider Jessica Simpson and her $20,000 hair extensions. Although you dont have to spend that much for a similar look as Jessica, it is very feasible to do on a limited budget. Your Face Shape - Collect lots of formal hair style pictures. Its especially good to find pictures of celebrities with the same face shape as you. What looks good on them may easily look just as good on you. While making your collection of prom hair style pictures, you want to be sure to consider the shape of your face as well as the length of your hair. But dont do all of this along. A professional hairstylist can help you choose the right style. Show your stylist at least 3 pictures of what you like and they will most likely be able to make it a style suited just for you. But dont forget to also consider the style of dress you will be wearing to prom. The style of your dress and your hairstyle can make a huge impact in your overall look. Anniversary Gifts - Sixteenth Anniversary

June 1st, 2008 by dorocommazzi

By Michael Russell Starting with your sixteenth anniversary, anniversary gifts start getting a little harder to get because things change drastically with this anniversary. We’re going to explain what the change is, why it changed and what your options are for a sixteenth anniversary gift. Your first fifteen years are over and now you’re into the area where you only get a traditional gift idea every five years. So your next traditional gift idea doesn’t come around again until your twentieth anniversary. Why? This will sound like a strange answer but it is what it is. The reason is simply because after the first fifteen years, list makers felt that only the anniversaries ending in five or zero were really important. It was like reaching a milestone every five years. It didn’t matter that you made it to 24 years. The key was to make it to that magical number of 25. However, because in modern times people still felt they needed to get their spouses gifts for each anniversary, modern day list makers came up with modern ideas for every anniversary, even up to number 100. Seems a little silly to have 100 anniversaries, but the list does exist. So starting with number sixteen, we have only modern gift ideas for all anniversaries that don’t end in a five or a zero. So don’t worry, you’ll still get some ideas to take with you to your favorite store. So, just what is the modern gift idea for your sixteenth anniversary? Well, they don’t give you an easy one, that’s for sure. Your choice for this year is silver hollowware. For those of you, especially you guys, who don’t know what hollowware is, we’ll give you a brief definition that even you can understand. Hollowware is the opposite of flatware. Flatware are dishes that lay flat, like a flat plate. Hollowware is a dish or item that is not flat, like a bowl. Got it? Perfect examples of hollowware that you can get for your wife and that she is sure to love, would be some nice silver serving dishes. These are great for holidays to serve all your veggies in. Pitchers, teapots and trays are also considered hollowware. Just make sure whatever you get has some silver in it or around it. Many hollowware bowls are actually made out of china but are lined with gold or silver. Look for the ones lined with silver. It is probably best to not purchase these things online or from companies where you have to get them delivered. These items are very fragile and can break easily in shipping. Go directly to the store and pick out what you want. If you’re having trouble finding something, just go to a sales person and tell him or her that you’re looking for silver hollowware for your sixteenth anniversary. They’ll know just what to show you. You would think as the years go by and you’re married longer, getting anniversary gifts would become easier; sadly, this isn’t the case. Maybe this is to remind us that marriage is indeed a very special thing. Creating, Recognizing & Measuring Value

May 29th, 2008 by dorocommazzi

By George Torok Price is what you pay - value is what you get.Warren Buffett, Chairman of Berkshire Securities Deliver value that your customers recognize, appreciate and reward. If you want your customers to value what you offer - you must demonstrate that you value them. Value implies trust so start by building trust. Always under-promise and over-deliver. Be known for keeping your promise and then some. Be honest. Never promise what you cannot deliver. Don’t confuse value with cost. A product’s value is almost never equal to its cost. For example, your product might cost you $2 and you sell it for $10. The value to you is $10. The value to the customer will usually be more than the selling price. If it was only worth $10 to the customer then they have no motivation to buy. But if the value to them is greater than the selling price, they are motivated to trade their money for something of greater value. It may be worth $25 to the customer. Then they will gladly give up $10 of their money for the product. The more that value exceeds the cost of the purchase, the more the customer will want to buy from you. Always offer value that is greater than the price they pay. Your challenge is to ensure the customer sees much more value than their cost. The Value FormulaHow can value be so different from cost? Examine the following formula, then discover where you can concentrate your efforts to enhance value. Total value = real value + perceived value Let’s take it apart to understand it. Real value comprises the tangibles. It is relatively easy to measure. Real value can be expressed in this manner: Real value = function/cost Function is what the product or service does in mechanical or analytical terms. Imagine you are buying a new car. If you are shopping for the best real value, you would get the most function efficient ground transportation for the lowest cost. You could measure the car’s function factor by comparing it with the cost of your practical alternatives; public transit, car pooling, taxi, bicycle, limousine, various car models. You might wish to consider the costs of these alternatives in terms of time and inconvenience. What does your new car give you that these other modes of transportation don’t? Having determined the new car’s function factor, you can divide it by its cost. Is its function worth more to you than its cost? If so, the new car has real value. At the end of your analysis you would buy the cheapest car. Not necessarily. Remember that what you are willing to pay for your car is based on the total value to you, which is a factor of both real and perceived value. So, sometimes without realizing it, you assign value to less quantifiable benefits and buy something that you like. Liking is not part of real value, it is part of a product’s perceived value. Perceived Value = belief x emotion Compared with real value, perceived value is more difficult to measure directly. Yet it can have greater impact on total value. Perceived value is the product of belief times emotion. It is influenced by intangibles such as image, credibility, beauty and feelings - all the benefits you should emphasize in your marketing efforts. Emphasizing your perceived value is the surest way to differentiate yourself from the competition - and gain you more profit. Perceived value is what makes a brand name more valuable than a no-name. Nike is one example of a company that built a fortune on perceived value. As individuals we think differently, perceive differently, and place different values on things. Beware of that. Use it to your advantage. When your prospect wants to negotiate price, remember to build up your product’s perceived value. How can you enhance the value of what you sell? If you are only looking at the cost of paper and ink then you are forcing yourself to compete in the commodity game. Instead find ways to emphasize the value of your relationship, the creative, - the intangibles. Always deliver real value too but compete on the perceived value. Apron Pattern

May 26th, 2008 by dorocommazzi

By Steve Knowles Are you aware that an apron is a universal uniform these days? Many people use it in their daily activities at work and around the home. The clothing of the person wearing one is protected by the apron and can be shown with pride as an employee of an establishment. Restaurants around the world wear these wonderful pieces of clothing every day. Many occupations wear aprons as the crux of their uniform. The purpose of the uniform determines the design of the apron. Various patterns may be used to create a unique style and presence for the business or individual. An apron pattern can vary greatly, for instance, the material is quite commonly made out of cotton but can also be found in denim and canvas. Traditionally the design is hung over the head and tied around the waist. The apron pattern has changed little over the centuries as it works and works well. Apron pattern ’s though can have some individuality if the owner desires. You can quite commonly find an apron pattern to suit you by surfing the internet. Although you will have to be rather specific in your search if you are looking for a particular design. You should also look for apron pattern ’s that come with detailed instructions for the sewing and finishing. Do you wish it to be functional or have entertainment value? Usually the two do not go hand in hand. For instance the Statue Of David apron is not considered appropriate for a formal occasion or most businesses but will be a funny inclusion in a BBQ environment. Look for apron patterns that are easy to make and do not cost much money to produce. Choose your style and stick to your personality traits and you will be extremely happy with the results. And when all is said and done, have fun. The Ideal Religion

May 18th, 2008 by dorocommazzi

By Richard Sem Lets pretend that a wise holy man, inspired by God Himself, is revealed today. Lets further pretend that he presents us with the Meaning of Life, the answer to at least some of the eternal questions that have vexed us since we climbed down out of the trees. What would happen to his words and deeds? Most likely dozens of pundits and experts would pop out of the woodwork and author dozens of books analyzing every word and nuance of the message. Within a year or two theologians would be interpreting each others interpretations and disputes would arise. Within a decade the original Meaning of Life would be lost in a flurry of sects, rituals and rules. This somewhat pessimistic and over-simplified scenario is a reflection of human natures irresistible tendency to take a sacred concept and, over time, to ritualize, bureaucratize and reinterpret into something very different. As discussed under What would Jesus, Moses and Mohammad Think, I doubted that the myriad denominations that evolved from their words and work were what they had at all intended. I cant believe that they ever imagined the colossal, wealthy and aristocratic bureaucracies that were formed in their names, let alone the superior, judgmental and angry viewpoints that often followed. So, what might they have hoped for? What legacy would a prophet hope to leave behind? How would he or she have seen his or her followers acting a century or two after his or her passing? What would be the structure of their ideal religion, if they had at all intended the formation of a faith and long-term following? What might be the ideal religion? I should first of all mention that my perspective comes out of Christianity because that was my upbringing, but I would think these concepts would apply for any tradition of faith. We might consider, then, the earliest Christians, who didnt yet call themselves Christians. In the early days they met in each others homes, often over a meal, prayed together, and discussed their common history and beliefs. No formal church, with all its rituals and rules, had yet formed, although the Judaic rules and rituals were mostly still followed. Over time, of course, disagreements arose over Jesus words and intentions and over whom or what he actually was. Leaders, such as Paul, eventually stepped forward, imposed structure and interpretation, and we were off and running. Note that bibles were not widely available until the sixteenth century and, besides, most people were illiterate during those early centuries, so it was more necessary for them to depend upon others to read and interpret for them. But could we step back and re-form a faith closer to what Jesus, or the other prophets, might have hoped for? For me, such a faith would be one with an elemental foundation, such as certain holy books (with the possibility that others might be later considered and added), a belief in God and, in the case of Christians, at least an acceptance that Jesus existed and was a holy man worthy of emulation and study. Some general codes of morality such as the Ten Commandments and Golden Rule might be included. Congregates would periodically gather together to study, discuss and pray. Leaders might be elected, but their duties would not include imposing rituals or interpretations. While chapters and verses would be studied and discussed, the overall intentions of the prophet(s) would not be forgotten. I fear that I am naive, that such a congregation couldnt exist for long without falling to the siren song of bureaucracy and a theology of rules and rituals. After all, Utopian philosophies never succeeded because they didnt take into account the fact that greed for power and influence happens, that some will inevitably lead for their own gratification, and that many will follow no matter what. But perhaps this age of the Internet will allow for a discourse closer to the founders intent than anything that has come along so far. We can hope. For more, see my blog at www.therestofus.net. How To Connect Cell Phone To PC?

May 14th, 2008 by dorocommazzi

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mike_Singh]Mike Singh These days, people are getting ever more reliant on technology. This is particularly true of communications technology. I remember the days when I had never even seen a cell phone. Today I consider it a gross dereliction of duty to step out of my front door without being completely 100% contactable for every minute of every day. This state of affairs is not just true for business people, it is not even limited to adults, and increasingly kids are keeping in contact with their parents, their coach, their friends and their piano teacher by cell phone, usually to explain why they will be late for an appointment it seems. However, regardless of the fact that this communications revolution involves everyone, there are certain people in certain industries that are far more reliant on communications technology then the rest of us. For these people it is crucial that they can get online, read their emails, and do a host of other tasks that require internet access. Their life has been made a lot easier by certain new technologies such as hotspots and blue tooth. With these new services, you can walk into virtually any coffee shop or airport lobby in the world, open up your laptop and you will immediately be online. This is a truly amazing advance on the connectivity that people could previously achieve and has removed a lot of the need for things such as internet kiosks and phone booths. However, there will be times when you simply cannot get to a star bucks. Difficult as it is to believe, there are still places in the world where you can be stuck without instant internet access and this can be a serious problem for some people in tight situations. Examples of this could include when you are on a train or in a car, when you are broken down at the side of the road, when you are in a small town far from major cities etc. In any of these circumstances, you may need to get online fast but dont know how. Well, the solution is to revert to something that many people did in the past but stopped when the technology moved on. That is connecting your laptop to your laptop and using that to get online. All you need is a cell phone that supports data transmission, which today includes virtually all phones, and a blue tooth, infra red or data cable connection between your phone and your pc. Isn’t There But One God?

May 9th, 2008 by dorocommazzi

By David Butcher I heard a pastor say, regarding people of the Muslim faith, Too bad they are praying to the wrong God! This was during a Sunday morning sermon. I flinched. Doesnt the Bible say that there is only one God? I believe it does. I found at least six scripture references: Mal 2:10 Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers? Mar 12:32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: 1Cr 8:6 But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are] all things, and we by him. Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all. 1Ti 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Jam 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. I recall Osama Bin Laden asking, during one of his taped messages, Where was your God . . .? (during the September 11 attacks in 2001). I also recall that only about 10% of the number of people that are usually in the twin towers died that day. Did our God not take care of the other 90%? Did their God not help them in their mission? It seems to me that one God dealt with both factions the best He could and still keep His promises. Does it matter that some call God Jehovah? Should it matter if some label their Lord by the name Buddha, or Mohammed, or Jesus? Should it matter if they refer to the Bible or to the Koran? Is not a rose by any other name still a rose? Are we not all brothers and sisters, regardless of religion, or politics, or color of our skin, or geography? I remember a scene in the movie, “Oh, God!”, in which George Burns, as God, answers a question from religious leaders about Jesus, Mohammed, and Buddha. He stated, as best I recall, “They were all my sons.” Of course, that was just a movie, wasn’t it? I, and my wife, Carolyn Richards, attempt to get the message across during our Christian concerts that “Prayer Works!” Prayer works for everyone, regardless of religion, or politics, or skin color, or sex, or any other physical or emotional difference. It seems to be a law of the universe as surely as the Law of Gravity is. There can be only one “god”, one “force”, one “cosmic consciousness”, or one “higher power” that makes prayer work, regardless what labels we put on it! Perhaps we would all get along better if everyone realized this. The differences here on earth are ours, not God’s. 2004 David M. Butcher Dave Butcher works a musical ministry with his wife, Carolyn Richards. They are full time and travel the USA presenting their program at churches, gospels sings, revivals, RV campgrounds, fairs, festivals, and other events. Carolyn is the #5 “Most Played Overseas Gospel Artist” according to the Oct & Nov, 2004 issues of Glory Train Express. She has had at least one song on the charts every month in 2004. Dave & Carolyn ask that you remember this: The Lord is gonna see that Everything’s Alright!
